The US Senate has confirmed Gina Haspel to be the new director of the CIA. Haspel is a 33-year veteran at the CIA, currently serving as its acting director. Haspel was approved despite stiff opposition over her links to the CIA's use of harsh interrogation methods in the years after the September 11 attacks.
