[ Physics ] Open Question : If an astronaut dropped a tool with zero initial velocity, in one second how far would it be from the astronaut?

I initially thought to use y=-1/2gt^2, but that was wrong, so I think it's just zero meters away, right? Since their is no initial velocity. It would be like letting go of it, and it just stays in place.
