Let A and B be diffusing species. The following is relations of interdiffusion coefficient D with their self-diffusion coefficients D_A and D_B and their fractions x_A and x_B D = x_B*D_A + x_A*D_B This means that the interdiffusion coefficient is dominated by smaller amounts of species. What is a physical image of this fact? I feel that the larger amounts of species should dominate. Why is my view not the case?
