[ Singles & Dating ] Open Question : What would you do if your significant other did this?

My boyfriend and I have been together for 9 months (I'm 20 he's 24). At the beginning he was obsessed with spending time together to the point where it was too much. When I started school I let him know I would have to see him less because I have a lot on my plate. Eventually, he got sick of being at home all day and decided to get a job. Well now, the last month (since he's had a job), he has consistently made plans and then bailed or forgotten. He always apologizes and tries to make it up to me. Eventually I was fed up and told him I wanted to take a break. After the break, we agreed on new solutions to our problem (ie: putting plans on our calendar and making them concrete). I feel like he is partly all over the place but also does not take my time into account. Flash forward to this week. He had Monday off and chose to spend it with his friend Garret. Then he asked me if he could stay the night at my house Wednesday (today) after he gets off work. I have a ton of homework due Thursday so I spent all day Monday and Tuesday working so I could spend time with him today. Well, today he texts me, "i am feeling really sad today so i think i am just going to go home after work." I told him that was okay and called him to try and cheer him up. Well a few hours ago he accidentally sent a text to me that he meant to send to his friend Garrett. Apparently him and Garret are playing video games. He basically cancelled our plans and is playing video games with his friend.
