Police have begun examining Notre Dame, more than a week after the iconic cathedral caught alight. Experts have taken samples from the Paris site, working to determine whether cigarette butts from construction workers may have ignited the blaze. The French government has also passed a bill aimed at fast-tracking the cathedrals reconstruction, with hopes of reopening by 2024.
