A new study suggests the risk of complications for expectant mothers would be significantly reduced if midwives led pregnancy care, rather than doctors. Deakin University researchers have revealed women have fewer emergency cesareans and surgical interventions when midwives lead the charge. Despite the evidence, data shows less than a quarter of all women have access to midwife-led pregnancy care.
