Hawaiian residents are stocking up on essentials after being warned that a potentially catastrophic hurricane could come dangerously close to the islands. The US national weather service is predicting Hurricane Lane will bring winds of up to 300 kilometres an hour as well as flash flooding. Forecasts have warned that the now weakening category four storm is the most powerful to approach Hawaii's vicinity in recorded history.
